My Trip To Dubai
My Trip To Dubai
In 2004 I was lucky enough to be asked to teach a project management certificate class in Dubai for the Harrington Institute. The trip was memorable in many ways. Before leaving I remember the trepidation I had, as the violence in Iraq was still in full swing and there were kidnappings being reported in the news. I had nothing to worry about though, as Dubai was extremely safe. Ironically, I saw more uniformed guards with guns at San Francisco Airport than I did in Dubai.
The class was awesome. i had students from all over the world who wanted to become certified by the Harrington Institute. The students were from Saudi Arabia, Iran, New York, Netherlands, India, and of course Dubai. While the students learned about project management, I got to learn about cultural differences and how they impact project management. I learned that Fridays are Saturdays in the Middle East and that they work all the other days of the week. There of course was Dubai itself. A fascinating place.
